MIA - Missing In Action

Our organization is for military veterans who were classified within the following Department of Defense Casualty Keys WIA = Wounded in Action, POW = Prisoner of War, KIA = Killed in Action, MIA = Missing in Action.

Missing in action (MIA) is a casualty classification assigned to a member of the armed forces, military chaplains, combat medics, and prisoners of war who are reported missing during wartime or ceasefire. They may have been killed, wounded, captured.   If deceased, neither their remains nor grave has been positively identified.

At present, more than 81,900 Americans remain missing from WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, and the Gulf Wars and other conflicts. Out of the more than 81,900 missing, 75% of the losses are located in the Indo-Pacific, and over 41,000 of the missing are presumed lost at sea.  Here is a link of recently accounted for MIAs.
